The
first thing you need to know is a Timber Hitch knot. Use this
illustration as a basic guide for tying this around the tree trunk
or heavy branch. Just remember that a true Timber Hitch must have
at least three tucks trapped against the branch/trunk.
Beware of using this hitch around
a very large tree that might keep the tucks from being clamped
down securely. This knot is very easy to take down when the rope
slacks, but is very secure when it is tight.
Use the Timber Hitch along with
the
Easy Loop on each end of the hammock
and you have a quick and secure way to hang your hammock between
two trees, trunks or branches.
There are other methods too, but
we have found that the Timber Hitch is the best and most versatile.
